Paper mills meet AI: a case from India

FIND AN ISSUE

The game “Find an issue” presents six cases of papers submitted by the an Indian paper mill. Paper mills in general, and the Indian paper mill in particular, are associated with various types of scientific misconduct, including fabrication and falsification of data and results, or use of generative AI to produce text and data. They also violate the peer review process.

Paper mills leave distinct traces on the papers they produce due to their mass production methods. These include specific email addresses, figure design, and the use of similar templates across multiple papers, etc.

This game allows you to identify issues in the papers submitted by the Indian paper mill.
