This paper is published in a cloned version of the Baltic Journal of Law and Politics. This paper is published on the website versita.com which is mentioned as a URL of a hijacked journal in the Retraction Watch Hijacked Journal Checker. This paper is also indexed in Scopus. There are certain red flags in this screenshot. First, the DOI is not registered. Second, the title of the paper does not correspond to the title of the journal, which is highly problematic.
This journal is one of 67 hijacked journals that have penetrated Scopus since 2013. This phenomenon, known as "indexjacking," refers to the penetration of unauthorized content into bibliographic databases. It was analyzed in the study: Abalkina, A. (2024). Challenges posed by hijacked journals in Scopus. Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, 75(4), 395–422. https://doi.org/10.1002/asi.24855
Following the study, Scopus deleted all links to the journals' profiles, as many had been compromised by hijacked content. While Scopus has removed numerous papers from hijacked journals, which were published without any peer review, some, like this one, remain indexed in the database.
